I'll keep it short and sweet since I just made a massive post earlier. I had completely forgotten about the Oscars until last night and I had already started that last one. Anyway, here you go
Favourites
Lots of white, isn't there? I loved these dresses. That first one, with all the pleating? Stunning. And all the lace and details and draping on Cruz's dress is just beautiful, you HAVE to look at the full picture of that one. It took me a bit to get used to the blue one, but I really liked the beading. That 4th one is a bit controversial, but I actually really ended up liking it, my mom hated it. She hated the next two as well. Both seemed very vintage, the first shiny one very old glamour hollywood, which is probably why I liked it, and the other? Victorian or something, and I like the colour. Anyway, just some of my favs, there were others that I liked as well, but I don't want to bombard you with pics.
Awful
Okay, that was my little update :) I really want to see Slumdog now! I wanted to see it earlier but I couldn't find anyone to go :( Shame Rahman did the music, I never really liked him.

You may remember my Part I from months ago, but most likely not. Well, fashion week was recently, so I've been looking on the web for some of the fashions. But those are for fall of next year! Since it is still Spring, or about to be, I figured I would put out an annotated update on some more of my favourite Spring ensembles :) Enjoy!
Designers
Tracy Reese
:: Probably saved the most pictures out of her show line up. Fairly
simple as styles go, but there are elements in the pieces that are just
great. Flowy skirts with structured tops, some fantastic lace piece,
pretty fabrics...
Also really enjoyed some of Sophie Theallet's pieces
Christian Lacroix :: I loved some of his pieces, it was all very....fantastical. Inspiration taken from everywhere.
Other likes:
Blumarine
Jonathan Saunders
Carlos Miele::Beautiful, beautiful dresses
Ralph Lauren ::some very classy Safari looks
Sophie Theallet
Zac Posen
Styles
Chiffon overlays! Here is a fashion style I'm really loving the
look of. Chiffon overlays, especially over different fabric. Very
neat effect, I would love to do something similar on some dresses that
I make.
Ethnic is still in style, maybe less than before, but still there. It will never go out of style for me :)
Layers: Some of these are very similar to the chiffon, but subtly different, usually lace or tulle :)
Negatives
Nina Ricci
At first glance, I love some of the pieces in this collection. Individually I think the tops of some of the dresses are really innovative and to die for. Even the bottom is a nice and interesting change. But then you go through the whole collection and every single dress starts to look the same because every single piece has the exact same style of train. So, I would have to vote for 'bad' as a whole. After a while your eyes just glaze over, totally bored. But like I said, the tops of some of the dresses are wonderful.
Vivienne Westwood
Bad enough that guys do it whether it is in fashion or not, is it fashionable for women to show their underwear? Well, don't answer that, because it always has been, but these outfits have boxers showing. It is horrible looking. Probably as bad as the underwear made out of scarfs (that vaguely remind me of diapers).
Depression Chic
I can't go on enough about how much I hate this trend. Not only is it totally morbid and disheartening, but the fashions are horrible. Everytime I go through a collection inspired by 'depression chic' I get the impression that they just throw together clashing patterns and the most ill-fitting clothes they can find. (Wunderkind)
Random
And a couple of totally random outfits that I liked :) (Click on a picture to see the name of the designer, if you want to see the rest of their collection, it is on the website linked above.)
Formal:
You can still see my love of chiffon in these :)
Other
I love the vintage look in the first and forth ones. The rest I just like :)
Phew! What an update. That took a while :) But I don't really feel like moving because I have a muscle spasm in my back so this gave me something to do :P

You may have guessed it since I sew clothing, but I LOVE watching
fashion. I don't necessarily prescribe to it, I don't own much that is
'in style' (I'd rather go for the 'timeless classic' and buy fewer
things) but I love seeing what comes out of runway shows, maybe get
some inspiration.
This week all the Spring lines have come out! Now, it is still bloody
hot here, so I haven't even given a thought to fall clothes, let alone
spring, but I just wanted to make a few notes.
First off, I LOVED Anna Sui's Spring 2008 RTW.
I'm ALL about the ethnic look. I loved her collection. (Much better
than her 'ethnic' disaster of a fall collection, imo).
Philosophy had a few cute ethnic designs that I enjoyed
Malandrino was interesting. I don't konw if I particularly liked the styles, but I liked some of the construction. The chiffon overlays and the crochet/lace
Oscar De La Renta was pretty good too, I thought. I liked the skirt design and most of the rest of the collection
Eh. I'm more of a fall person anyway!
I'm a huge fan of Yves Saint Laurent's fall collection. At first the pieces look a bit futuristic, but once you get past how he is trying to present them, you can see they are actually really good pieces. I love that jacket with the blue sticking out.
I also have to say that Carolina Herrera OWNED the English country look. Maybe a bit over the top in fact, but I enjoyed looking anyway :)
von Furstenburg had some good looks as well. I really love the vintage inspired styles. I got a bit tired the coats with the skinny belts over them.
Mizrahi also has a pretty decent collection
Derek Lam had a mixed collection, there were some good pieces, and there were some awful pieces.
Nothing else much interesting. I haven't looked through everything, so you might be tortured with another post later down the line, but I'm tired of sitting at the computer so....ta. And here I was intending to workout this morning. Bah. I have a shopping trip to Hancock tomorrow so I needed some inspiration.
