Sorry for the spam :P Here are some vintage style aprons I made for Christmas. The first one was a trial run that I made for myself. It is made from some Target dollar apron my mom bought me a few years ago and some left over fabric. The only thing not recycled is the red border fabric. I even to the green border off the peppermint apron and sewed it around the dotted one. Took ages.
The second one was all new, I gave it to my mom for Christmas.
My mom honestly took the WORST pictures of me before we went to go see the Nutcracker that I almost didn't post any pictures. But then I thought, hey, photoshop can do wonders. Not enough apparently. Second option....take my own pictures. Self timers are the most wonderful thing for dress makers :)
Anyway, so here is my holiday dress that I made for the Nutcracker. It gave me a few much needed breaks during finals. I made it from a vintage 50's pattern and some crinkly red satin fabric. I always pick the hardest fabric to work with. It was pretty though, it had little embroidery all through it in the same colour. Belt was store bought.
The petticoat killed me. I had one day to finish the thing. I'll never do that again. It was not a fun experience. But I LOVED the dress. I've never loved anything I've made this much :) I got lots of looks and comments on it while I was at the show. It was a hit :) I only wish I had more chances to wear it! Anyway, without further ado.
Not much else to say! I loved :) I might wear it just for the hell of it sometime :) Back to sewing Christmas presents!

Have a safe and fun holiday everyone! I'm heading home in a few hours. Quite possibly the last Christmas in my parents house! (They are retiring and moving). It'll be weird when things change...It's been a long time since I've considered it my real 'home' but it'll still be strange when my parents move instead of me...*shrugs* So it goes, right? :)
May the holidays bring you joy.
